I read the first chapter and I must say it doesn't seem as horrible as I thought it would be(thank god!)

Re: Artemis Fowl Book Eight: The Last Guardian
I read the first chapter recently, and I swear, the first thought that popped into my head was
"Oh, wow... I feel like I'm reading a bad fanfic that will get a lot of flames for being too far-fetched." Just my opinion, though. I still am planning on reading this book, but I can't say it has me thrilled. :/

It feels like like a fan fic to me too... :/
I guess I had too much hope for it to be super amazing.
Now all I need to say is; There better be a lot of Butler in it. I mean it.

"Those who don't believe in magic will never find it."
"Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead."
"I love deadlines. I love the wooshing sound they make as they go by."
I ship Sheldon/Penny and Artemis/Holly. I have a strange mind. Deal with it.

*Tries hard to be optimistic*
At least if Eoin kills Arty, there won't be any more ship wars...
BUT THERE WOULDN'T BE ANY MORE BOOKS!!!

EC has said the books will end on a very simple choice, and that Artemis will make the right decision. But how do we know he's telling the truth?
In three days the ending will be revealed.
I've read the first chapter online, and I found a mistake already...
Artemis says his IQ is around 3/4 of a DaVinci. From what I can find, DaVinci's IQ is estimated to be 180, so Artemis' IQ would be around 135. From various online IQ tests I've taken (I know they're inaccurate, so I took the mean) I am around as smart as him. And Opal would be way more intellegent, and so would Foaly, No1 and possibly Minerva. And quite a lot of us FGers. That can't be right.

This user will debate you about how important Jean Valjean is (acceptable answer: very), and the distinction between 'antagonist' and 'villain' and how the terms apply to Javert and the Thenardiers.

Re: Artemis Fowl Book Eight: The Last Guardian
I saw the book cover And I absolutely hated it-the colours don't match, the text is horrible the picture of Arty is horrible; in my opinion. Also-presuming it's Artemis-he has a sword!? Maybe he becomes physically strong in this, too!
That would mean he wouldn't die, you can't beat intelligence and braun. ^^ I think the cover really matters, being a perfectionist.

Re: Artemis Fowl Book Eight: The Last Guardian
I agree... That is a terrible picture of Artemis. It makes him look like an utter child of maybe 12 years old. I always pictured him looking older than his years. Hard blue eyes, tall and austere. The suit he's wearing looks like a school boy's uniform instead of his usual Armani. Well, at least it's coming out in three days.
I'm a crazy Whovian, watch out!

Maybe they go back in time, and that's why he looks 12.. I don't Eoin can replay that one, though, too like TTP. We'll find this out in 3 days, too right, AND The Supernaturlist Graphic Novel is coming out that day.

Re: Artemis Fowl Book Eight: The Last Guardian
I found this article in the Irish Independent newspaper, it is mainly about the series ending.
It has a few interesting details in it.Children cry fowl as Artemis ends run
John Spain, books editor.
It is the end of the rainbow for the man who found the secret of the leprechaun's gold.
Former teacher Eoin Colfer's phenomenally popular 'Artemis Fowl' series draws to a close next week with the publication of the eighth and final book.
Described by the critics 'Die Hard with fairies', the books for young adults are a mix of fantasy and crime - and have sold over 20 million copies worldwide.
The series began in 2001 with 12-year-old criminal Artemis holding a leprechaun to ransom in order to get his hands on the fairy gold.
The books have been published in 44 countries and have made Mr Colfer, a former teacher from Wexford, one of the wealthiest Irish writers.
"I'm sorry to be saying goodbye to the characters," he says.
In this last book Artemis's younger brothers could end up destroying the human race, so he has to step in to save them, and the rest of us.
The series was uniquely surreal. "Folklore, fantasy and hi-tech wizardry... full of farting, gentle mockery and subversiveness," one critic said.
Mr Colfer is so highly regarded in the literary world that three years ago he was asked to write a new book in the 'Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' series.
"I had no idea Artemis would be so successful," Mr Colfer says. "When I started 15 years ago, like most writers I just wanted to make enough to be able to give up the day job and write full time. I'm working on a new series for young readers now and another book for adults. But Artemis was part of my life for a long time. So, yes, it will be hard to finally say goodbye."
'Artemis Fowl and The Last Guardian' will be published next Tuesday by Penguin/ Puffin at €13.99.
