Re: Airman
I've read it.
And I'll answer any questions directed at me.
For the most part I really didn't like it. It's okay for the first few chapters then lunges into some really dark un-colfer-like content. I think it was an attempt to avoid people thinking he can only write cheerful books. But it just seemed like a thin vial to distract from weak storytelling.
Also the romance was still god awful. And it had more historical inaccuracies than you could shake a stick at.
This was a real breakaway book for him and not in a good way.

Oh.
That's a real dissapointment... pity. You've pretty much pointed out some of flaws that annoy me most in books...
Did anyone else who read it like it?
EDIT: So this inspired me to read the critical reviews of Airman... and all of the ones I could find are extremely complimentary. And they all compare it to The Count of Monte Cristo, which is one of my favorite books. Odd that your view is so different than theirs...

Re: Airman
I've also yet to see a poor review of it MMK.
It just wasn't my taste, and to me it seemed vastly predictable and boring, aside from Wynter, who was a nice character change.
I'm just providing my own review, it's up to us each individually to see if we like it.
PS I also love The Count of Monte Cristo .

Re: Airman
i don't know, i loved it. sure, it was very dark, but in a good, batman-y way. but then i'm a comic nerd. i thought it was ingenious and awesome. though it bugs me the way bonvilain died. he could always come back, i think.
ATTENTION! for all Netherworlds readers, I am still updating on DA!

Re: Airman
I thought it was a pretty good book.
Parts of it were classic Colfer.
As other people have mentioned, there are definitely parts that could have been left out.
I'd recommend it, but it's not on my list of top books.

I've read it also, i thought it was a great book. AND, the book is not nonfic, so it doesn't have to be accurate. There is a romance part that lasts about 1 line, so ur just being picky. Also E.C. doesn't have to prove anything, he's already a great author. It's pretty amazing just to be published.

Re: Airman
I'm glad you're capable of feeling so adamantly about it TheFoundColony, and you are certainly entitled to your opinion but I'd like to remind you that it doesn't impact my own.
And while I'm being picky, it's spelled: you are.

Re: Airman
I read Airman. I loved it It was amazing. Not as good as Artemis Fowl though.
I’m thinking of buying a monkey. Then I think, “Why stop at one?” I don’t like being limited in that way. Therefore, I’m considering a platoon of monkeys. So that people will look at me and see how mellow and well-adjusted I am compared to these monkeys throwing faeces around.
