Re: Should They Combine The First and Second Book?
Ugh they're combined.why? i don't care how long i have to wait for the second movie as long as they're both awesome and i'm not dead before the second one comes out. I wish they weren't combined but as they are just hope for the best. But if they make him seventeen I will track them down...

Re: Should They Combine The First and Second Book?
Nahh, they'd have to completely change the plot to make it work. So, no.

Re: Should They Combine The First and Second Book?
^Ya, I agree.
To make it all fit and still allow watching the movie to be bearable, they'd have to probably cut out some of the plot. (Even though they're probably doing that anyway.
) Cramming two books into one AF movie would be...weird.
*shrug* I dunno. x)

Re: Should They Combine The First and Second Book?
It's pretty weird to put in two books in a movie. Look at Tin Tin. The whole story was messed up. The details would be mashed up, just like Percy Jackson or HP

Re: Should They Combine The First and Second Book?
No. Partly because there are eight books and eight is a way better number than seven. But mainly because it wouldn't work. Otherwise they'd be the same book too.

I agree with Sky. However, have any of you guys seen The Series of Unfortunate Events movie, where they had three of the books in one? I will tell you one thing. It's c**p. However, it may happen to save budget. *Worried*

Re: Should They Combine The First and Second Book?
According to one of my friends' books, Ireland has a lower cost of making films in an attempt to increase the business, so they shouldn't need to lower the budget by combining books. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: Should They Combine The First and Second Book?
I don't think they should. it would be so hard and the result would be messy as they would have about a year to film it so they would cut out a load of really imporatant stuff.

Re: Should They Combine The First and Second Book?
I know. And where would the point be? Combining them defeats the point of having a first and second book.
If they do, I'm boycotting the movie (not really!!!)

I'm Irish, but have never heard about that. Probably because I live in England.Skyswallow wrote:According to one of my friends' books, Ireland has a lower cost of making films in an attempt to increase the business, so they shouldn't need to lower the budget by combining books. That is true, according to my Dad (complete Irish), they don't put tax (VAT) on their movies. Cuz mah uncle worked for them, doing hairdressing and makeup.

Re: Should They Combine The First and Second Book?
Necro threads are unavoidable due to the lack of activity here. Anyway, if they do combine them, they should do this:
Artemis kidnaps Holly, LEP gets ****** off and comes after him with the whole siege thing. While this is happening, Koboi takes advantage of the LEP combat section's absence to start the Goblin Rebellion. Meanwhile, back at the siege, the LEP weapons go offline, leaving them with no options. Artemis gets the gold, as they need Holly to even stand a chance. Then, they do the unthinkable: ask Artemis for help. He agrees, on the condition that after the job is done he gets LEP assistance in recovering his father. The rest of the movie is awesome shooty yet intelligent stuff.

Re: Should They Combine The First and Second Book?
If the screenplay follows what Spudtron98 says, then I guess it'll be fine ; but there'll still be huge parts missing, probably from the first book because it has less action than the Arctic Incident... Or else they made a three hours movie !
But seriously, it would be soo much better to have a film for each book. To me the better would be a film for the three first books, because Artemis Fowl was a trilogy at the beginning and the three first books are just the best. And maybe, why not, a fourth film in which all the other books are mashed up into one, so the film has a whole new plot ? That might be sorta fun, if it's well done.

Re: Should They Combine The First and Second Book?
I'd prefer separate films, but I guess you're right that if they combine the plot right, it could be awesome
But if they do go separate, it would be nice to get a couple of Koboi references in the first film (more stuff about maybe Koboi Industries sponsoring the LEP and Foaly grumbling about how they have a much better budget of course and perhaps a PPTV clip (Cabilline could be reporting! Not our Cabby, but the centaur...) where Koboi talks about the crisis... It would be some nice foreshadowing.
And I don't think a film of the first three would work... Because the first one is only over ~8 hours (not counting the prologue-y part) yet the second one is a LOT longer (or would show as longer because of all the places they visit, and if it's not just to be a quick action thriller and it has the same/more depth of/than the film (which they could do, with good acting) which I think they could definitely do) so to add the third one in would be confusing. Also the second links to the first more than the third, and TEC links more to TOD (because of the mind-wipe link) better than TAI.
Whatever they do, I hope they don't miss out the lollipops moment!
EDIT:// Also we should maybe change the necro policies here slightly? Because there hasn't been much posting in over a year now... Maybe some of the irrelevant threads could also be locked now, because there are probably some old gems from early in the forum that would be really necro but also some newer ones that don't have much to talk about... Also that made no sense. Sorry.
