Who should play Julius Root?

Which actors would you like to cast? What do you want to see? What would you do if you were the director?

Dennis Franz and Miguel Sandoval both seem about equal. I can't decide. :?

Dennis Franz and Robert DeNiro. Nice! XD

J.K. Simmons has always been what I imagine Julius Root to look like, he'd make the perfect Root;

I'd say they're both good candidates, but all elves do have darker tones of skin. It's right there in the Fowl Files.

J. K. Simmons? Never heard of him. By the picture I think he would need to gain a little mire weight. And with the darker skin, you could always put stage makeup
on him. Or give him a spray tan. x3

Then I think he would be perfect.

JK Simmons plays J. Jonah Jameson in the spiderman trilogy :3

Like you said, a spray tan could fix his skin tone, and if you watch the old spidey movies he can pull off the 'angry boss' so well!

It's not really that simple, changing someones skin color to represent another race (though in this case species) is highly controversial. It stems back to the American civil war. Yes RDJ did it but not without getting some noise about it.
Hiring actors of color is a much better way to go.

Damn, I forgot that elves have a dark skin tone. I was gonna suggest Danny DeVito because he has the same stature that I'd imagined Root having and I know that he could play the role because he's been in Mafia movies and he was great as Matilda's dad.
But I'm gonna go back to the drawing board on this one.

Hello all! :D Apologies for the double post!

Just a quick note to say that this topic is the biggest topic on who should play Julius Root, but there were a few little side-suggestions and mini topics. In an effort to keep everything in one place for the movie's release, I have merged a bunch of these topics into this one.

This thread will be our official, Julius Root - Dream Cast thread, where we can discuss who would play Root in our ideal worlds. Have fun! :D

I stand by the opinion of JK Simmons - and Danny DeVito. Both would be perfect.

Yes, there's the race debate...but at the end of the day...if the actor fits the role, then who are we to deny it?
And even then, if someone is particularly pendantic about it....Odin's beard, I can't believe I'm going to say this...CGI. Or make up and prosthetics.

Course...Samuel L. Jackson would be a good contender for the "adult" film. Oh gods, just imagine the "negotiation" scene between Sam and Artemis.
Artemis would be roasted so hard, he'd throw Holly out just to get rid of them.
"What, what, you thought you just gonna walk right into our vault and help yourself to go look for your daddy? Yeah, we know about him. He's in Russia. Now maybe if you let my officer go, I'll help you get him back - but oh, we don't negotiate with kidnappers!"
...I don't know, man. I'm babbling.
