Re: the artemis fowl movie-soundtrack????
hmmm. for TTP they should have Florence + the Machine's Dog Days Are Over for background music for when he 'sends in the fairies'
Happiness, it hurt like a train on a track
Coming towards her, stuck still no turning back
She hid around corners and she hid under beds
She killed it with kisses and from it she fled
With every bubble she sank with a drink
And washed it away down the kitchen sink
The dog days are over
The dog days are done
The horses are coming so you better run
Run fast for your mother run fast for your father
Run for your children and your sisters and brothers
Leave all your love and your loving behind you
Can't carry it with you if you want to survive
The dog days are over
The dog days are done
Can't you hear the horses
Cuz here they come
And I never wanted anything from you
Except everything you had
And what was left after that too. oh.
Happiness it hurt like a bullet in the mind
Stuck them up drainpipes
By someone who should know better than that
The dog days are over
The dog days are gone
Can you hear the horses
Cuz here they come
Run fast for your mother and fast for your father
Run for your children for your sisters and brothers
Leave all your love and your loving behind you
Can't carry it with you if you want to survive
The dog days are over
The dog days are gone
Can you hear the horses because here they come
The dog days are over

and Undiscovered for Holly in TTP (Even though it's about a man) The tune fits...
I can only think of stuff for TTP at the mo... what about the scientist for the eternity code??? How bout viva la vida by coldplay for father's day in TAI? Better Man by James Morrison for Artemis Sr.
There was a time i had nothing to give
Well i needed shelter from the storm i was in
When it all got too heavy you carried my weight
And i want to hold you and i want to say
That you are all that i need for you i give my soul to keep
You see me love me just the way i am
I said for you i am a better man
I said you are the reason for everything that i do
I'd be lost so lost without you oh
And under the stars at the edge of the sea
There's no one around no one but you and me
We'd talk for hours as time drifts away
I could stay here forever and hold you this way
You are all that i need for you i give my soul to keep
You see me love me just the way i am
I said for you i am a better man
I said you are the reason for everything that i do
I'd be lost so lost without you no no no

If they did a TTP song for the smoochy smoochy scene, it should definitely be Paramore, but it should be' the only exception. And have some magic wraparound shot.
What about the credits? I think 'bliss' by muse would be good.
And 'hold out your hand' by nickleback would be good for something. Anything by Evanescence would be awesome. And something called 'light up the sky' by Yellowcard would be good for a later movie, maybe.

Re: the artemis fowl movie-soundtrack????
Hmm....my tastes in music have changed....
I think Paramore could be a good choice for the kiss.
What about this when Artemis is sad about lying to Holly or after Holly has her rant and is giving Arty the cold shoulder or when he thinks they can't win.
This could be good when Sool fires Holly:
This could be in TAI trailer for Holly and Artemis and the goblin fight:

I <3 gregory and the hawk! I got into them about a year back. And the one republic song is deeply Artemisy! It's perfect, maybe not for the trailer though. I didn't like the other song though.
For the credits, maybe 'My last breath' by Evanesence?
And what about an MCR song? Like 'The black parade' or something?

Yeah! another GATH fan!
hmmm....My Last Breath...it could do. But what does it have to do w/ the movie?
If there was time for multiple credit songs, what about something to do with his feelings about his father? Not alot come to mind. What about:
The People Who Raised Me-Gregory and The Hawk
or Young at Heart-Landon Pigg

Re: the artemis fowl movie-soundtrack????
i think that they should use the song "I still have'nt found what i'm looking for" by U2. In the Artemis Fowl Files, in Butler's interview, he says its like it was made for Artemis, and if you listen to it, it kinda is. If they make two separate movies, they could put in the second one where Artemis is looking for his dad. It would be perfect.

True, also you could add 'It's no game part 2', or any other Bowie song.
I think everybody would need a kind of theme...

Re: the artemis fowl movie-soundtrack????
I think I would really like them to come up with an original score for this.
Disney have a somewhat OK reputation when it comes to original songs, and I would love a powerful, dark and mysterious overarching main theme. I think a fun, jaunty theme for Mulch would be brilliant. I think in an ideal world I would love John Williams to do something for it. His music for stuff like Jurassic Park is infamous and memorable, and his music for the Harry Potter music has enough depth behind it that it can still bring tears to my eyes.

Re: the artemis fowl movie-soundtrack????
John Williams definitely knows how to make a memorable and distinctive theme.
(Well, I suppose a good portion of his themes share the same core, but they're dressed and styled differently...)
Danny Elfman would be another good contender, though I associate him more so with superheros....again, I can easily distinguish each of his themes.
I'm going to throw Alan Silvestri's name in the hat as well...just because. Even though all his music just sounds like Back to the Future to me. That said, Alan can do some dark, menacing themes quite nicely. I utterly love his track from Avengers IW "What Did it Cost" about a minute and a half in. You get this sense of immense doom descending on you, but also kind of feel a rush, maybe you are the one causing the doom and destruction. And maybe you kind of like it a little.

Re: the artemis fowl movie-soundtrack????
It's probably worth mentioning that the composer for the movie is going to be Patrick Doyle, who did the score for the first Thor movie among other things. Funnily enough, he also scored Eragon, which... Take that as you will
I've never found his work particularly interesting, but it's not bad either. I'm hoping he does a good job with this, because if Game of Thrones taught me anything it's that a terrible adaptation can still have an amazing soundtrack that you can just pretend is for the books instead x)
Ideally I probably would have picked someone like Steve Jablonsky (Ender's Game, Transformers) or Henry Jackman (Kingsman, X-Men First Class). Both of them are great with tense, kinetic, modern-sounding scores. I especially think the theme from Ender's Game gives off solid Artemis Fowl vibes:

100%. The Game of Thrones soundtrack sometimes gives me goosebumps, especially Light of the Seven from the season 6 soundtrack omg. Something like that would be soo good!
I was thinking about Danny Elfman but the stuff he writes tends to be quite fast-paced and something you could sing along to, which doesn't really suit the image I have in my head of the movie.
Then I got to wondering if Howard Shore could be a good fit, since he did an amazing job with the Lord of the Rings soundtrack and really did write some amazingly differing pieces that carried many different tones.
