Which actors would you like to cast? What do you want to see? What would you do if you were the director?

Argon (one of "those witch docters") usually does the prolouge and epulouge so I think it would make sense for him to do it. Or maybe even Foaly because he always seems to have the lastest news on everything. Plus he does the prolouge for The Opal Deception.

Hey, Mulch, if you listen really hard you can just about make out the sound of nobody giving a hoot.

what would i do with an artemis fowl movie... i don't know where to begin.

well firstly i think they should have an irish tinge to the soundtrack, violins and and harps and so on, but not too much, cos it could end up pretty daft.

handled properly it could be a classic, cos its a great three-way sting con movie. plus they got a bit with a troll.

it should begin with a narration, like the briefing at the start of the books, and the words should appear on screen as they're said, like a sbemail.
the credits should be in gnommish, but then fade to english.
as each character appears there should be a feeze frame, and a small fact-file on them should appear on screen (name, age, height, weight, etc.)
it shold begin slowly with artemis in HoChiMin, then cut to holly's part of the story just as they meet the drunken fairy.

sound design should be very murky for a lot of it, as holly is only semi-consious, and the film should feel really claustraphobic.

there should also be a decent explanation of the way fairies live. not like in LOTR, just a few mentions of it in dialogue early on, maybe some close-ups of the light system under ground.

the producers of a film would generally want a proper action sequence early on, so after we're introduced to the character of holly, they should have some kind of high-speed police chase pretty much immediately.

that's all i can think of offhand.

writing this, im starting to think someone should give ridely scott a call, cos this sounds like the kind of movie he could really sink his teeth into. if not him, then tony scott.

i just hope they dont hire some director who's only made one small film and a bunch of ads. cos there's plenty of good diresctors already out there.

better still they could just hire me!

That's a great idea. I like that.

I love the way Colfer writes, because I can always see what's happening in the books as clearly as I could see pictures on a movie screen. But you can't take a book and put it directly into a script form. You need nifty ideas like what you said.

Mmm...Nifty...

I've had my own ideas as well, lots of them, but they're all really random...You'd all get confused reading them. When I write stuff, I just put down what comes to mind first, so it would end up all helter-skelter.

I love your ideas, billythehick.

While I was reading all these brilliant ideas, it just made me wish that someone involved in the film would read this thread. :( Fans are usually the best choices for directors/actors/writers when making book-to-film adaptations because they have already claimed the book as their own, and they just know what they're doing. [As opposed to cash cows who just want to milk off a whole new hit franchise.] And because fans are fans, they're always inspired and always creative.

glad to have some support ;)

not sure a fan would altogether be the best option. better to choose a director who really knows his stuff in films.

some things to consider about that tho:
fans directed king kong and superman returns
a fan directed lemony snicket
a proper director (speilberg) wanted to cast haley joel osment as harry potter.

Yup, I was referring to director Peter Jackson [The Lord of the Rings and King Kong] who was a huge fan of the works that he based his films on. Because he was such a devoted fan, he was able to channel his love for these works into magnificent films on the silver screen... I hope that we could be as lucky with the Artemis Fowl movie, though I highly doubt it.

I think it should be like this-

The first scene of the movie, then Artemis takes The Book, and uses a machine to take pictures, then the camera zooms around the city, and it ends up in Artemis's watch. the gears turn, something move, and the Artemis Fowl logo appears. Then it moves again, it's replaced by the words The Movie, and it zooms out, continues movie.

This is such a great thread! Why, you ask? Well, let me explain...

Y'see, the first Artemis Fowl book I ever read was Arctic Incident. It was after that that I found out about the first one (it was quite silly, really...I was in the bookstore and I'm like, 'Hey! Artemis Fowl! I have that book...wait a sec, it's a different colour...'--it took about 5 minutes for me to figure out that it was a series, I'm that slow.). Because AI was the first book I'd read, when I heard about the movie, I automatically assumed they were doing the first book...and reread the first Artemis Fowl book that I'd ever read...do you see where I'm going with this? Basically, I had movie scenes in my head for all of AI, but when I try visualizing the real first book...I just can't :( So , this thread shall cure me of that ^_^ . I have complete faith in the people here. Honestly, they should be script-writers, if, as Meril claims, they can't be directors. :)

i haven't finished reading this topic, so someone may have already pointed this out, bu i'm pretty sure the report is made by the J. Argon Clinic.
