I notised in the 1st book, Ho chi minh city, is actually a person! In the vietnamese war, a man named Ho chi minh, started a war between vietnam and france with the U.S aiding france. and nguyen xuan, Vo nguyen was Ho chi minh's top general.
there once was a twelve year old boy, who's computer was his favourite toy,
but when he captured a fairy, things got a little hairy,
for he's easy to annoy.

 Fowl's a smartie. I have noticed that Vishby sounds like Fishby, and he has gills and is Atlantean.

All these name things are really cool! I've never noticed them coz in my version ofthe books (Italian) most of the names is translated. Anyway, I've noticed that in The Artic Incident when Artemis goes to Russia he uses the false name of Stephan Bashkir, who is a character from The Supernaturalist. Then, Julius Root and Briar Cudgeon wee friends when they were young, and tha word "briar-root" actually exhistes. Btw, do ya thik that Colfer has choosen the name Briar after, Briar Rose, the princes in The Sleeping Beauty? That would be creepy...

Interesting concept. I noticed the Stefan Bashkir thing too. And in the Half-Moon Investigations, Colfer uses the name Art Fowler, as veelagirl has so clearly pointed out before. For some reason, I notice the tiny things in books. Just things like when Colfer contradicts himself on small things, and names that may or may not have a meaning.

Aw... I'm glad in the Netherlands they only translate a few names. They only changed names that apparently don't go well in Dutch books. Look, I know Doodah Day doesn't sound well in a Dutch book. But why translate Mulch Diggums? Or Briar Cudgeon? *His Dutch name is really bad...*

Really? Tell me some of them! In The Italian version Briar Cudgeon is called Briar Brontauro, word that doesn't mean nothing, but sounds similar to Briar. And Ark Sool's name is super funny...he's called Argh Sgrunt!

Ok :P The Dutch name of Briar Cudgeon is Pico Knuppel *I think Pico is a name for a clown... :P * The Dutch name for Mulch is Turf Graafmans, which is something like Digman in English. And Doodah Day is Jippie Jee in Dutch, which is something we can say in Dutch when we're happy :S :P

In English, Doodah Day is the name of a rather happy-cheery song about going to the horse races. Weird. :?

Well, that certainly explains why Doodah is so happy all the time :P
