they probably talked like this: Ahem... Astourn bach en'ouriath. a'amaloury (click)shintoryis.
y'know, sorta like all the Eurpean languages mixed, with a hint of egyptian.
I have know Idea what I just said, but I don't plan on saying that in the future
there once was a twelve year old boy, who's computer was his favourite toy,
but when he captured a fairy, things got a little hairy,
for he's easy to annoy.

it would have to be a beatiful, flowing language like the ancient language in eraon(ps has anyone read them? they're brilliant!) any way when doodah day sees butler 4 the 1st time says that hes speaking a PRIMITIVE MUD MAN TONGUE! so yeah it would have to be kind of nice

It doesn't have to be nice, because I say German is primitive *no offence* and you can't exactly call Dutch nice... Ah well, bit off-topic :P Couldn't it be something like Egyptian? You know, Artemis decoded Gnomish by comparing the character with Ancient-Egyptian! So it might be kind of the same.

Good point. Maybe the Egyptians based their language and writing on fairy texts. Too bad we'll never know how Egyptian was spoken. :(

In the far future. But if they made one, they might come back and get me! Yay, I'm crazy.

I like the thought of Gaelic and Egyptian, maybe a bit of Dutch, a pinch of Russian. Perfect, or in the words of Hiram Abif "like the ultimate salad."

Gaelic is one of the oldest European languages. I think that and Egyptian are cool. Two of the oldest languages mixed together. Plus some Latin for fun.

How will they speak Gnommish in the movie? I mean, the actor surely can't learn a whole new language for a film?
