Today's positive news comes to us from New York!
A 17-year-old named Dylan Carollo has been running his own radio station since he was 11!
He noticed that more listeners were tuning in since being in lockdown. He decided to make the most of this and set up a place on his website where people could make donations to frontline services in exchange for song requests, shoutouts and merch. In total he raised over $30,000!

Today's positive news comes to us from all over the US!
Wildlife in the US national parks has been thriving in the past couple of months!
Pronghorn antelope have been spotted in death valley for the first time in recent memory! Deer, bobcats and black bears have been seen prowling in Yosemite national park much closer to buildings than usual!

Today's positive news comes to us from Taiwan!
In an effort to cut down on plastic waste, Taiwan's Green Island will no longer be offering bottled water. Instead, 33 different places across the island will be offering potable water for free. It is hoped that, since the island is a big tourist hot spot, this will reduce littering and the build-up of plastic waste

Today's positive news comes to us from New Orleans!
Cash Money Records has donated over $225,000 to a non-profit organisation (Forward Together New Orleans) to help pay June's rent for hundreds of people living in various New Orleans projects. One of the founders of Cash Money Records gave the statement, "The legacy of Cash Money belongs to the city of New Orleans. There’s nothing more important to us than giving back to the brothers and sisters who live on those same streets we grew up on – from musicians to service workers to everyday working families. That’s what this label was always about."

For the first time in a decade, wild dog puppies have been born on the Londolozi Game Reserve! There are only 500 wild dogs left in South Africa, so this litter of 10 puppies is an amazingly positive sign

The humpback whale population is recovering from near extinction with 40,000 expected off the Australian east coast this breeding season, much more than the 150 that were left in the 1960s before anti-whaling efforts. The recovery of humpback and other whale populations is playing a little known role in balancing the ocean’s ecosystem and the planet's oxygen levels.

Large heath butterflies have made a return to Manchester after 150 years, the Lancashire Wildlife Trust has brought the species back to peatlands following a local extinction in the 19th century!

The discovery of a new breeding pair of Hainan Gibbons raises hope for the survival of the world's rarest primate. Ravaged by deforestation and poaching, the ape now lives only in a patch of forest on China's Hainan island. In the 1950s, there were an estimated 2,000 left in the world, but numbers fell to fewer than 10 in the 1970s. The latest census shows numbers have tripled to more than 30. It's not a massive boom, but it is a glimmer of hope and a sign that conservation efforts are helping.

I read that a little boy in Kenya designed a wooden hand-washing station, received a Presidential Award, and was promised a scholarship to help him with his future goal of being an engineer!

Hello all!
Time for today's positivity!
Groundbreaking surgery has taken place in Florida which has allowed a 'dead' heart to be successfully transplanted for the first time! The US is facing an organ shortage crisis, so being able to widen the net to organs that have been outside the donor body for longer will hopefully mean that more lives will be saved in the long run!
