Okay, so I do know the original book with that had that question was Maya Angelou's I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings, but this is my take on the question. So, enjoy. PS, this has no real storyline, this is just a random thought from me.
Why does the caged bird sing?
Well, let me answer a question with a question
Why does the beaten dog wag its tail?
Why does the slave dream of freedom?
Why does the captured try to escape?
Why does the fish try to fly?
Why does the sunlight seek to pierce darkness?
Why did the fire burn through the night?
Why does the babe seek to walk?
Why does the child seek to learn?
Only the crazy never feel pain
Murderers are only the insane
Why does humanity never lie down?
Why does the martyr seek to stand?
Why does the stricken always get up?
Why does the torchbearer hold the light high?
Why does the doomed fight to their last?
Why does the old man seek the light?
Why does the religion speak of an afterlife?
So, now do you know why the caged bird sings?
