Should I Read / Watch The Hunger Games?

Post by artymon I\/ » Mon 14th May 2012

After some vague rantings in the Consecutive posting thread, I came to the conclusion that you, the People of Fan Gathering, have a good sense of what is and isn't good.

Basically, I'm pretty sure most of you will agree with me if I say things like,

• Artemis Fowl rocks!

• Harry Potter is awesome, I wish I was a wizard and could fly on a broomstick

• Uh...I think you meant to say Holly rocks up there, sir.

• I would never call you sir, dolt!

• Indiana Jones is Adventure personified

• Back to the Future is great

• Stephen King can write a decent story

• Twilight is wretched in ways I cannot describe here.

If you don't agree, well, sorry chap. Individuality, shucks.

But if you do, please tell me your honest (spoiler free) thoughts of Hunger Games.

It is a drama, and it's very depressive, which is why I don't like it. Though I gotta admit, it is good. Not really my type, but it's good.
I emit a chaos field which distorts time and space and creates chaos everywhere around me. That's why my room is always a mess. Image

You definitely should! It's VERY good! Have to agree with Kitty that it's depressing, though.

^Hmmm... Okay, I admit the last one and a little bit of the second one is depressive, but, I would say that the first one is just your average action-packed book.

Personally I think the plot of the first two books are very, very good. The writing is fairly good, though I wouldn't call it phenomenal. The third book, I thought, went a little downhill toward the end in terms of both plot and writing - it seemed to me as though the author wanted it to be over. But I think it's definitely worth it. The movie was amazing.

Read this: do not watch the movie read the book the movie is fateful but to keep a family rateing they had to use shaky camera so you could not see what was happening and it just did not have the time to make you care about the characters so in short read the books then watch the movie (if you want)

for me i loved the first 2 books and liked the third. don't get me wrong the third is good but it is a step away from the stakes i liked in the frst 2 books in those you did not no how you did not know when but you knew people where going to die in this third they only go into combat for about 4 (a bit more) chapters in the book so you where only worryed about the characters safty in those tme instd of around half the book if not more.

for me my biggest problem with the third bookis that to replace the staks of the first 2 the main girl is just thinking "do i like this guy or this guy" and that annoyed me because the answer was eazy one love her like a boyfriend and one loved her like a brother there is a diference!

ok im done rageing

thanks for the sig Sara

Yes, they're pretty good. They're not my favourite (obviously!) but they are good. I don't know about the movie, but both my friends recommend it!
Gallifrey - a Doctor Who fanfiction
Hunting the Disappeared - a Fowlock fanfiction

This user will debate you about how important Jean Valjean is (acceptable answer: very), and the distinction between 'antagonist' and 'villain' and how the terms apply to Javert and the Thenardiers.

I would say it's the best movie I've seen all year, even better than Warhorse. I don't really like the second book because it seems very similar to the first book. The third is ok, but she just seems to always be waking up in hospital and it gets quite repetitive. I would definately read them.

You should read the first book. After the first...in my opinion, they're not as good

I would definitely read the books, I haven't watched the movie so I wouldn't know about that.

But be warned: Many people (me included) have found the third book not as fantastic as the first two, especially the ending to the third. It was unbelievable, unsatisfactory and rushed. like she was trying to reach a deadline or something :? .
But definitely read it :)
