Two examples on hacking-games, there's some more... I suppose the possible "hacking" won't be even near the real hacking (port-scanning, playing with telnet, exploiting server-software, SQL-injecting...), anyway, so why it wouldn't be allowed?

Also games like Splinter Cell and the new MGS4 will feature simplistic hacking feature which allow you interact with computers and other machines like turret guns.

(looks at first post) I knew he was real!

My ideas:
BASIC:
Character list should be, Artemis, Butler, Holly, Root, Mulch, Foaly, or Trouble. You can even unlock a special character if you press L, X and A at the title screen. That special character is....Artemis's dad! In a special level you can escape those darn Russians!
It's for the Nintendo DS.
Using the touch screen, you can move objects, shoot things with a gun or Neutrino, or touch a floating LEP helmet to save and turn off the game.

MINI-GAMES:
Catch Mulch! : You play as Root or Holly in a little game to catch Mulch. Up-side is, you have your trusty buzz baton in hand, and waiting anvils to drop on Mulch. Down-side, Mulch can use dwarf gas. If you choose Root, Holly will assist you. Be careful! You could accidentally drop an anvil on your partner.
Design a Character! : You choose if your a Mud-Person or a fairy. You choose gender and then you color and name your character!

I think if you played from Artemis's part you would probably do a lot more code cracking. Others would probably be just action.

I was thinking, maybe something that follows the story completely but has different games for different places. But you can choose both sides, for example:
Capture Holly: Stealth and surviellance/Completing the ritual minigame
Interrogation: Sort of like a talk game (If you have played Oblivion you would know what I am talking about)
Time stop: Be foaly and fix the wires in the right places/Artemis' side doesnt do anything
Retrieval: Avoid butler/Attack retrieval
etc, etc

Or maybe a game that would be like Battlefield 2 crossed with Oblivion.
The fighting + the freeroaming/interactivity
So if you were to choose Holly you would be running around Haven or LEP, talking to the Commander, doing missions. Or you can take on the main "Quest" where you get captured by Artemis
And in the Bwa 'Kell rebellion (I know they didnt have guns but for the sake of the game)its like a Battlefield 2 game with the LEP vs the Goblins

yes definetly i wish there was an artemis fowl game. It would be so much fun to play as all the characters and it might be a good mental excercise!

Well the big thing would be the control scheme. It would need to switch POV often and let you play both sides in order to get a feel anywhere near reminiscent of the books.
That would be hard for developers to work around, I mean, you don't want to feel bad for the enemy. And the player is liable to be more empathic to whatever they're battling at the time if they know the character's background.
As for hacking. Has anyone ever played Enter The Matrix? They have a wonderfully realistic hacking system.

Anyone play Call Of Duty 4? It switches perspectives between missions and eventually you have a mission with USMC and SAS combined. Now make make those Artemis Fowl sides (LEP, Artemis)

It is true, in a way. I mean, if they programed a game based on Artemis Fowl, wouldn't people playing it have a little trouble playing it? I mean, Artemis is a genius and might use complex words people do not understand. That would be a problem. They could use a dictionary, but they would have to go back and forth many times.

I don't think many games are made from books..unless they become movies so probably not...but even if they did, movie based games are usually really bad..
