Julius Root

What do you think will happen in the next installment of the Fowl series?

I think I'm having an argument i just can't win, I think I'll leave this argument up to some persistent mule, or someone who has actually got a good chance of winning this debate.

I...I...I give up.

Sorry about double posting I'll be more careful next time

I'm thinking not. Really, I wouldn't want Root to be revived. It's not that I didn't like him, I've just...never really been one for far-fetched stuff like that.

Plus, if you ask me, it sounds kind of Mary Sue-ish...in a weird way...

There's really no way to bring all of Julius back, if you brought back his features he might not have the same mind as the late Julius. I think it would be to weird to bring back now anyway. Once you're dead you're dead no way of coming back.

BUT Artemis Fowl is a book and a fantasy and anything can happen in a book. Everyone is basing there opinions on logic. It would be worth a try anyway and if it doesn't work, kill him. It. Again.

Yeah, but I think no matter what happens, everyone has to die sometime. I mean, you can't just bring everyone back. That would be a lot of population problems there!
I disagree with the idea of bringing people back from the dead. People die for a reason, and bringing them back defeats the purpose of killing them off in the first place.

^ Precisely. There would be no point. Besides you could bring back his body and not his mind.

Yeah. Like what could have happened with Butler?
I think TEC actually makes it pretty clear that you can't bring fairies back from being dead.

I don't know why everyone's against even trying it. I f doesn't work better luck next time but if it does it would be medical breakthrough and very cool. Plus how do you all know if his mind can't be brought back? Do you have a laboratory in your house?

Okay, Foalytwin.
1, how is this even possible? Root was recycled at the end of Book 4. How could they bring him back now? After he's...well, most likely decayed?
2, they said in TEC that freezing messed up the body's biorhythms, and that cryogenics had never worked with fairies. Foaly then warned Artemis that Butler's brain might not come back. That's partly how we got on the brain dead thing.
3, cloning doesn't work either...TOD makes that pretty dang clear.
4, I think they would be morally against trying it. Cause if something horrible did happen to Root, it'd be all their fault. No, I think they'd need someone who had previously agreed to undergo that sort of a..well, whatever it is.
and 5, how on earth could they bring him back? Just because they have magic doesn't mean they can do everything.

1. Julius would have got to do blood tests when he joined the LEP.
2. Foaly warned Artemis Butlers brain 'MIGHT' not come back.
3. I can understand.
4. Out of the whole of Haven don't you think there would be at least one person who would be with the idea?
5. a)They have powerful magic and might seek the help of a warlock or something.
b)They don't just have magic, they have technology as well.

What's your point about blood tests?  Blood can't bring a person back to life if it's all you have left of them.  And who said it was even saved??Yeah, there might be one person...but I doubt it would be one of the people who would actually do anything, like Foaly and Holly.  Though they are sad about the Commander's death, I think they have moved on.
About using magic...I don't know. In pretty much every fantasy book I've ever read, bringing people back from the dead is either evil magic or doesn't work. I know it could, but like I said before, then no one would really ever die, so what would be the point of killing them??? I don't know if they could invent something like that, but I suppose it's possible.
What would the point be plotwise, though?

I think bringing him back to life would do A lot of good to Haven.
You could get some of his DNA out of his blood and duplicate it i suppose.
And I don't think Holly or Foaly really did get over the Commander's death. It's probably just scared them knowing how much of an influence he had on them.

Duplicating his DNA would just be like cloning, wouldn't it?? And that doesn't work. Or didn't, in TOD.
I know Julius was a key character, and did a lot of good things, but I'm sure there are other good people for Commander as well, ones who can do just as well as Root did.
Well, when someone you know dies, you never really get over it. But you...get past it. I think that's where they are now, past his death. Done mourning him.
And do you mean scared or scarred???
