did u kno that u can buy the atlantis complex before it comes out in the u.s.?
u can buy the u.k. edition on amazon from a seller from Britain or Germany
its costs an extra $14 but u get the pretty british cover instead of the ugly american cover & my copy arrived YESTERDAY... yes, YESTERDAY and i am in america
it took about a week for it to arrive though, so unless u really want the pretty british cover like me, u should just buy the american version

Okay, so here goes the blackout!
I really enjoyed this book! The feel of it was much, much different than that of the previous books, but still very enjoyable. Here's a list of FIVE reasons why I liked it.
1. The plot and comclusion of the book were a diversion from the usual format.
2. The whole A/H business was handled well. Orion was so, so, funny and it gave us a taste of the absurdity of any feelings they would have for each other. Plus it made me laugh***...and laugh...and laugh....
3. WE GOT JULIET BACK! I missed the easygoing, fun-loving additude of Butler's little sister who has been away since TEC.
4. The small details about life outside peril are fun, interesting nuggets. Holly going on a date with Trouble, Foaly having kids, etc.
5. It was just a straight-up entertaining book, funny and clever as ever

Re: The Official Book 7 (The Atlantis Complex) Thread!
I must agree. Orion really brought alot to the book...
I think that Orion really is a very nice alter-ego for Artemis. They're totally different, aren't they?
Anyway, bringing back Turnball Root was a smart move. He's smart and cunning, and a perfect enemy of Artemis. And he had a sweet backstory, and that just made him more evil!!!!
I love having Juliet back. It's a perfect way, having the Mesmer spark a memory. It was quite ingenious.
And they had to end it on a cliffhanger...

I did enjoy the book, and the plot was rather clever.
It didn't have that typical "happy" ending. Now that was a change that I liked and I still am doubtful about that 9-12 rating...
But the plot! Orion, Orion, Orion. All I can say is: Colfer, you genius.
My new favourite book has left me breathless for more. ESPECIALLY, how Holly will answer Artemis' last question in the book.

I was so relieved when Artemis finally asked Holly that question! Phew! I was thinkign why isn't he saying anything, its like he's ignoring that subject! I hope Holly and Trouble don't get together. And i hope Holly chooses Artemis And i really loved the jokes in this one! The bivuouc oh and Orion was so funny! As was Mulch and everybody Loved it!

Re: The Official Book 7 (The Atlantis Complex) Thread!
Okay, so I thought of something. In the last paragraph when mulch is asking Butler about Juliet wrestling against an officer there's this bit of dialouge:
"Ah," said Mulch, comprehension dawning on his face. "So I should switch my bet to Juliet?"
"You certainly should," said Butler..
Now given how those are the last sentences of the book and how A/H is lookin pretty impossible, as it really has been always, I sort of figured out another message in it. Colfer is telling us to switch our bet from Holly to Juliet as far as who Artemis will end up with.
What do you think?

Hm... That's a really good point, and Colfer tends to hint cryptic clues like that. But, NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please let that not be it! I admire and like Juliet and all, but I make my ship clear. Colfer, if this is true, look out for my sturdy pencil.

I never thought about it that way. Hmmm. There's never been all that much to suggest that Artemis and Juliet would ever get together, but then again, it's not like it's ever easy to guess what's going to happen next.ShortRebel wrote:Okay, so I thought of something. I personally want Holly and Trouble to get together, but that's just me. I've never liked the cross-species idea. It's just wrong. I like Trouble even more now he's completely owned Artemis.

ok so i liked the book but still a/h-ness was lacking... and concerning to the arty/juliet.. colfer loves that pair and you can see it in the other books so im pretty sure we'll see that or minerva (though something tells me she died, and dont get me wrong, im greatful she jumped off the face of the earth) any way it is possible that this has a better chance of happening soo.. yeah..

Re: The Official Book 7 (The Atlantis Complex) Thread!
Okay, I just finished readin the book last night at three in the morning (shut up).
I really, truely liked it. And I like the idea of Colfer being cryptic and telling us Jartemis is going to happen. It's always been my favorite, though I'm worried about the age gap. Artemis was four years younger than Juliet at the start, and I'm not sure Mrs. Fowl will like her fifteen year old son dating a twenty-two year old.
Which remindes me, I am soooo glad we got Juliet back! She's always been my favorite, so I'm happy to see her again.
Beginning to doubt that 9-12 rating as well...
"And I will not be beaten by that jack***."
"Jack***?" Said Foaly, wounded. "My favorite uncle is a jack****."
did I mention I'm excited to see Foaly has at least one sibling (nephew) and an uncle? It's just cool tosee, hey, Foaly's got FAMILY! And I liked the "It was one date!" thing from Holly about Trouble.. It was funny.
All in all, I liked it, and Foaly in the battlefield is just cool. I would have liked a wee bit more Mulch though; he was just sorta background noise after a while...

I’m not calling for a second chance,
I’m screaming at the top of my voice.
Give me reason, but don’t give me choice,
Because I’ll just make the same mistake again.

Re: The Official Book 7 (The Atlantis Complex) Thread!
I'm pretty sure y'all are going to hunt me down and kill me real slowly because judging from all these posts, everyone of you liked the book except for me. xD
I'll explain my reasons in this nice little spoiler tag.
1. The thing that irked me most is that there are so many things from previous books left unadressed. Where is Opal? Where is Past!Opal? We only get a mention of the first and a rumour on the second. After the last book, you can't possibly expect to dismiss an entire storyline like that! The A/H kiss? Did it ever happen? And from book 5, Minerva. Where did she go? Die in a ditch? How are the twins doing? How is Angeline doing? All those things, I missed in this book.
2. The Atlantis Complex sounded cool in the beginning. I enjoyed reading about it, even though I felt that Colfer had a little too much fun thinking up 'cool stuff'. But what irks me now about it, is how Colfer didn't even remotely research anything. Atlantis Complex is OCD and multiple personalities in one... And I don't know much about OCD but I do know that the way he portrays having multiple personalities is so incredibly far from the truth it's not even funny anymore. At least do a little research. If this had been fanfiction, he would have been flamed 'till the end of time for getting it wrong.
3. The pace. It was too quick. Usually, it's quick, but manageable, you know? It's fun that things go so quick because you can't wait to know what happens next. Now, you don't even have time to wonder. And the couple of times it could have done with a quicker pace (like the Orion part, that just took too damn long), he slowed it down.
There's more but I'll leave it at this xD
But there were good points, too!
I loved Juliet. She's an awesome character. I liked how Mulch got undercover this time around, he always does think up something new. And I started shipping Foaly/Mulch xD And the book was funny as all others.
In short: I would've preferred to wait another year/few years to get a good book, than have this book now. Colfer could've done so much better.
