Re: [OFFICIAL] Artemis Fowl: The Time Paradox (AF6)
Okay, so I finally finished it last night, and so here is my assessment...
I absoluetly loved the A/H action. Before I hadn't really given that ship a whole lot of thought, but now I'm really gung-ho about it. At first I was kind of uneasy aobut the plot with the lemur and the mother and such, but once they went back into time I started to really appreciate it. Okay, one thing I am really disapointed about...not enough Artemis vs. Artemis! They barely had any interaction and I was kind of put out that they ended up teaming up against Opal. I guess Opal being there wasn't a big deal, but I think it would've been cool if it was mostly centered around Artemis and his younger self duking it out.
Overall though, great book, and it left me hanging on every page.

"Artemis had a vast mental reserve for scathing comebacks at his disposal, but none of them covered girlfriend insults. He wasn't even sure if it was an insult. And if it was, who was being insulted? Him, or the girl?" <<Oh you are, Arty, even if you don't know it; you deserve much better than the likes of Minerva. How 'bout......let's say.....me?

Re: [OFFICIAL] Artemis Fowl: The Time Paradox (AF6)
i have read the book and it's totally amazing!!!! You should be looking forward for it!
[If you haven't read the book don't read forward]
Oh my god! At first I am a bit disappointed at the book. How come Artemis is that stupid and have no earlier plotting, just do everything depend on the situation. And the kiss, and how come Artemis will dying in this stupid situation, it's not like Eoin's style. But the second day (i read it is three days), all come to be exciting, and I love it, and Artemis's genius plot come back. And the end, the big time paradox is just suprizing. At first i really think, why oh why, Arty you should let Mother hold the lemur, it will make her happier. But later i knew, Artemis knew these all already. And i like the end, Artemis fight Opal solo, it seems like a hero saves the world, flying the plane. And the last page, Eoin end it good, it go back to the begining, at the time when and why AF discover fairy world. It feel great, the story end at where it all start.
oh, i edit it so many times.

Re: [OFFICIAL] Artemis Fowl: The Time Paradox (AF6)
It was reallllyyyy good! I guess I'll put the rest in spolier font so here goes...
I was reluctant to read it at first because I am totally not an A/H shipper but it was really sweet, regardless of the whole species and age problem. Of course, Eoin isn't a romance writer (and we love that!) so it was kinda spur of the moment and a little out of character, but still. I thought the ending was a little dragged out, with Butler dying (again) and the doctor and the barrel of fat and all that. But I loved the Opal and Arty part at the very end. As always, Colfer tricked us into thinking that Arty was gonna loose or die or whatnot and then surprised us with the stuffed animal. I thought that Beckett and Myles were adorable and the way Artemis taught them was totally, well, Artemis-y. Kraken Watch was a little out of the blue, but Colfer, as always, had a reason and tied it in at the end. It was interesting to see a more political view to the book, all about animals and nature. A little too much brain fluid for my taste, but whatever. I thought the whole idea of time travel was really well-thought out and logical in a crazy kind of way. It was really clever to have to have everything that happened already happen and is happening and... well... figure it out. Only two problems with the plot. First, Opal. Now past Opal and present Opal are in the present which means twice as much Opal now and none back then. Of course, it will obviously work out because it already has happened so no worries about the world combusting or anything. Second problem is minor but still bugs me. Twice in the book it talks about present Artemis's eyes. For example, 'Heads turn to locate the speaker. It was a slender young man with a goatee and piercing blue eyes.' As we know, the young man is present Arty. But he has blue eyes. Plural. However, earlier in the book Colfer talks about Holly's one blue eye, one hazel. Why does Artemis have both his blue eyes and yet Holly has one of each? Great book though, one of my favorites!

The Butler dying again thing was a bit much. This was the... 3rd, 4th time or so? I'm seriously tempted, if Colfer decides to write a 7th book and kill Butler again, I'll go in the book to make sure he stays dead. No, honestly, they can't keep saving him. Let him die in peace next time, I'm getting tired of the spectacular rescues.

She's right though, Butler-dies-again is getting a bit overdone. Colfer needs to find something to replace that. Let the poor guy live in peace or kill him, don't keep killing and unkilling him!

Re: [OFFICIAL] Artemis Fowl: The Time Paradox (AF6)
I thought the book was good to a certain extent, alot of missing links though like what happened to minerva? The opal deception is probably still my favourite. There wasn't really enough of butler ( the older one ) either in my opinion The only thing he did was reach the front gate to the manor on his way to china to be mesmerized, and almost die.
Although there were pretty good twists, i loved the bit with the kraken at the end and half way through when artemis realises that his memory is different to the events that actually happened, i thought it was down to the time paradox, but it was actually the mind wipe and his memories were false ones made up by his brain, so what he remebered was actually false
i only bought the book yesterday and finished it today, although aparantly colfer isnt writing another artemis fowl for 3 years, according to wikipedia
hopefully he will change his mind

Re: [OFFICIAL] Artemis Fowl: The Time Paradox (AF6)
hi everyone i know u didnt expect me to come back but in the light of the next book, i have, briefly.
ok, so i thought that book was crap. where was minerva? no mention at all. at the beginning, artemis up to his elbows in poster paint? two year old twins can speak a little too well and only appear at beginning and end - this book was supposed to be about tying up loose ends and annoying little brothers. not exactly annoying were they? opal koboi from the past comes in (ANOTHER opal related thing? she comes in too much in the story) and they have to catch her while her future self is in prison, they never said what would happen to the past opal. and she can shapeshift and make thunderbolts etc? why didnt she do that in the previous books? and what was the point in foaly getting married to caballine if she wasnt part of it? and why is there no new fairy technology? and why was it not mentioned before that the whole fat thing neutralised magic? and why did holly kiss artemis and now ... holly didnt even get to fancy trouble kelp. and i thought there was an artemis/minerva thing going on! at the end of the fifth book butler said minerva had 'built up something special' so... what was it? no mention. and the whole kraken thing? if you want a good story, include everything at the beginning. it sounded like karakens did not exist before this book.
i had a similar rant with the book breaking dawn, but ah well cant do two at once and since this is an artemis fowl website i ahd best not repeat it.
anyways, the only reason i came here was so ppl could answer these qus for themselves. hope to never see you again (unless a seventh book comes out, which it wont) byeeeee

Re: [OFFICIAL] Artemis Fowl: The Time Paradox (AF6)
Do we need the spoiler tags still?
I agree with much of what was said. I don't think the book was terrible-- it was just much different than I expected. I do wish that there had been at least SOME mention of Minerva-- Colfer could have included her several times. But ah well.
I absolutely love the last part, when Opal is chasing Artemis with the jet. It's just so, so amazingly done. This is the kind of writing that got me hooked on Artemis Fowl!
I liked seeing Merv and Scant again. How they react to Opal's narcisissm is always funny. And yes, I know that's probably not spelled right. Oh well.
I still think that AxH is just unnatual.

TTP I loved the book! But killing Butler again is a little overdone. He should be able to do something without being killed. But then again nothing with Artemis isn't dangerous. Like when doing buisness with Spiro, that made sense. But still.

6th book=TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT (except for some parts)
Okay, most of the stuff that bothers me is already covered. The plot was all over the place instead of centered, and I disliked that. And Minerva? I hate her with all my guts, but Colfer just totally drops her! I thought she would have come back. It was so DAMN annoying that Opal came back! We've had so many Opals now...[shakes fist] C'mon, Colfer! You can get more original than that! And the whole idea of using the mesmer is so overdone, even in the fandoms... it was still very exciting and very random though. I laughed my head off at the Artemis interactions (Bb anyone?) and I agree there should have been more confrontation. I wanted to see the scene where they reveal who they are though. Pity Colfer cut it out...DAMMIT! Why did the family have to find out?! That's something an incompetent fan fiction author would write! (no offenes to the ff authors). Angeline should have thought she was slipping into insanity again or something. Opal isn't someone to be taken seriously to a human

Re: [OFFICIAL] Artemis Fowl: The Time Paradox (AF6)
GET READY FOR A RANT!
Okay, so first of all; The plot was jumping ALL over the place. Wasn't it supposed to be about tying up loose ends? And the time paradox thing was confusing. So if Arty hadn't tried to heal his mother, then Opal never would have decided to try to kill her, and then Artemis (younger) never would have found out about fairies. Confusing much?
And then, what about Beckett and Myles? They only appeared in the very beginning and at the end. Wasn't the book supposed to tell us more about them? All we learned was that they learn very quickly--or at least, they learn to talk very quickly.
And I agree with Meo and all the above; He really should find something better to do with Butler. Seriously, first he died of a bullet shot in the third book, and Holly brings him back.
Then, he nearly gets killed again, and Artemis brings him back again.
THEN in the Time Paradox, Opal gives him a heart-attack, and Artemis jump-starts him... AGAIN.
Seriously, doesn't Butler have anything better to do than die, un-die, die, un-die, die, un-die? It's getting old.
Okay, that's the end of my rant.
